Details:
The intent of SOAP (Scripture Observation Application Prayer) is to get us all studying our Bibles daily. Please read the daily scriptures in the below "Schedule" section, then write a short observation and application of each and pray about what you have studied. For additional details, please continue reading below.
(S)cripture--Open your Bible to the daily scripture for today's date (or click on the below link for today's date under the "Schedule" section to read online). Take time reading the Bible and allow God to speak to you. Highlight, underline or place a mark in the margin of your Bible, next to any verse or verses that stand out. When you are done, reread the verse(s) you marked, look for the one that particularly spoke to you that day, write the verse down and note your observation.
(O)bservation--What do you think God is saying to you in this verse? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this verse down in your own words.
(A)pplication--Personalize what you have read, by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or corrections for a particular area of your life. Write how this verse can apply to you today.
(P)rayer--This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this verse, or it may be a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say!
Schedule:
Most every month, SOAP will focus on a particular theme. You can view the theme and daily scripture using the below table. Simply click on daily scripture below or in the "SOAP Daily Scripture" section to the right to study online at BibleGateway.com. Please note there is no daily scripture for weekends. Use this as "weekly reflection" time to reflect on what you have studied during that week.
