Phil Ware, President of Heartlight, Inc., will present a series of studies at Columbia Avenue Church of Christ, May 18-19. Phil is also one of the partners in Interim Ministry Partners, Inc., as is Mark Frost.
The Saturday morning session will consist of two parts. The first one at 9 a.m. will introduce the theme entitled “Recognizing God’s SIGnature on Our Lives,” which emphasizes that each of us is God’s masterpiece. The second session is “Strengths: The Abilities God Hardwired Us to Use.” The focus of this session is Psalm 139:13-16 and how God makes us uniquely different and how these are our strengths; however, these are not our spiritual gifts, but our natural talents and strengths.
The Sunday morning Bible Class at 9 a.m. will focus on Spiritual gifts – “Me? Gifted by God, Really?” This session’s presentation will explain how spiritual gifts work and why they are important.
The Sunday sermon is entitled “From Experience to Interests: God is at Work in Me!” This lesson will look at interests/insights, focusing on Romans 8:28-29, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 and Philippians 2:13 and how God uses our experiences in life to equip us to bless others. After worship, there will be a potluck fellowship in the Family Life Center.
The Sunday afternoon session will focus on two things – releasing the power of the Spirit into the life of our church and in our individual lives. This session is entitled “Living in Step with the Spirit” and is from Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and 1Peter 4. The focus of this presentation is that everyone who has come to Christ has been given a spiritual gift.
